Smokey Basil Coriander Pesto

Chloe Ben

Smokey Basil Coriander Pesto  is a very easy, fun pesto to make. When short of a sauce or pesto, my way is to whip up a few healthy elements in a blender and adjust the salt and pepper to bring out the yummy factor.

Basil is an aromatic and flavourful green leafy herb originating in Africa and Asia. It has various uses, such as being used as medicine, flavoring food, or making teas. It is a highly potent herb with health benefits, such as relieving bug bites and nausea. Basil is also a prevalent element in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for healing and preventive benefits and also for helping the mind and body adapt to stressors from the environment without spiking an inflammatory reaction.

Coriander is another aromatic herb used to garnish a wide range of dishes. It is related to celery, carrots, and parsley. Coriander has been used for years to help lower blood sugar levels, improve heart health, protect the brain, improve gut health, and fight infections. Coriander is also very rich in antioxidants.

This pesto is an out-of-the-box recipe with no traditional pesto ingredients, olive oil, nuts, or cheese, just some great natural substitute ingredients. Throw in some of this and that, and you have a smoky pesto.

Pesto poem: In the kitchen, I stand with my pestle and mortar, Ready to create a dish that will be a true treasure. With holy basil and coriander, I start to grind, Releasing their fragrances, oh so divine.

Add cumin seeds to enhance the flavor, And a dollop of coconut butter, for a touch of savor. Sprinkling in turmeric, yellow like the sun, And salt and pepper to make it all come undone.

To make it creamy, scoop in some avocado, And then some smokey paprika for a little bravado. As I mix and grind, the aroma fills the air, A delicious pesto that’s beyond compare.

Now it’s time to enjoy this delicious spread, On toast or pasta or just by the spoonful instead. With every bite, I taste the love and care, That went into making this pesto so rare.

Whaola!
