Jasmin Rice Pea Balls

Simply Sentient

One time, we had leftover Jasmin rice from the day before. It’s such a pity to throw it away, so instead, here is what happened: we rolled them into dainty, delicious rice balls. Perfect little balls as a starter, these rice balls have a bit of coconut milk in them, adding a slight sweetness with a hint of the coconut flavor. Then the herbs and spices added to the rice balls can form patterns and add flavor to these little treats.

Rice is a staple in many countries, but especially in Asia. Rice is served as a side dish to many viands, as a porridge, used to make bread, desserts, cakes, and many other things. It is very adaptable, and many cultures across the globe love it.  It is a perfect source of carbohydrates and can easily absorb different flavors.

Even if you don’t have leftover Jasmin rice, I would recommend that you make this dish. When you cook the rice, use less water than normal. Then when it’s almost cooked,  add 1/4 cup of coconut milk and let it soften and dry out. Now you can make delicious rice balls.
